Cortisone injections?

i had cortisone injections on my right wrist 4 and a half hours ago....i was told that once the local anaesthetic wears off it will get quite painful, just wondering how long it takes the anaesthetic to wear off and how painful it will get......any if anyones had cortisone injections before, has it helped??
