Why do women look forward to a natural birth?

- with all of the pain it involves, etc. Do they think it makes them more of a woman? Most people laugh at that point of view. Is it a bit like a man who has his tooth out without anaesthetic to prove he is a 'real man'? And isn't it all rather pathetic?
