How do you detect who didn't return your "follow" on both Twitter and Tumblr?

Through promos I've followed hundreds of people, yet my "followers" remain half of that. How do I detect those who never followed me as promised on both Twitter and Tumblr? And how do I do a "mass remove" to clear out the clutter?
