Anyone with a baby with tongue-tie?

When my son was born I had huge trouble trying to breast-feed and was forced to stop after 6 weeks when my milk dried up. It was only later that my son was diagnosed with severe tongue-tie that, as it was untreated, meant he hadn't been able to latch on properly or suckle efficiently. It's now affecting his speech development and the doctors are recommending an operation which is very simple but requires a general anaesthetic. I'm totally fazed by this and wondered whether anyone else has had a similar experience and how it went? Thanks.
