Signs of pain in a dog?

My dog had oral surgery yesterday to remove a cyst from his jaw, when he came home yesterday afternoon, he was still drowsy from the anaesthetic, but as the night went on he started to look distressed. He starting pawing at the side of his mouth, and pacing up and down the lounge and wasnt sure if he wanted to stand, sit or lay down, so kept getting up and moving. Are these signs I should go back to the vet for pain relief or am I over-reacting???
